After Independence the people of Assam were lagging behind in respect of health sector. There were no facilities in order to study Medical science, Nursing in diploma/degree level in the state of Assam. However, after a few years of Independence, a few Medical Colleges at Dibrugarh and Guwahati were established. Side by side a few Nursing Schools were opened in the Govt. level therein only for a few students.

Now, the people of Assam particularly from North-Eastern Region have felt necessity for their children to growth studies of Medical Science/Nursing profession for want which the students of North east Region have been suffering much. In order to meet up the thrash of the students of North-East a trust by name of NEPNI was established and registered in the year 2005 at Hatigaon Main Road Guwahati 6. Due to some technical difficulties and unavoidable circumstances, the school of Nursing has been starting in the year 2007-2008. A few intake of students were admitted in to the 3&1/2 years GNM Courses after obtaining approval of INC New Delhi and state Govt. permission/NOC.

In the second year, i.e in the year 2008-2009 near about 15 Nos. of students were admitted as per guidelines of INC, New-Delhi, they have been continuing their studies. As you are aware, in order to exhibit practical demonstration our students take part in the Govt. Medical College Hospital Guwahati/MMC Hospital Panbazar Guwahati. Two retd. Experienced Ladies in the field of Nursing training/Sister s Tutors were appointed as Principal and Vice-Principal in the NEPNI School of Nursing. Faculties for other subjects, experienced ladies/persons were appointed. Although, we had taken rented Building at Hatigaon Main Road. Our class room, demonstration room are very well decorated as per INC norms. The vision of the trust is that the NEPNI school of Nursing Institute should be the best academic centre of high standard Nursing Practice. Meanwhile, a plot of land consisting 4 bighas presently on lease system for 30 years in the north bank of the Brahmaputra in the surbub area of greater Guwahati for its permanent constructions.

In the year of 2009-2010, Nursing School under NEPNI Trust is in full-swing. Near about 30 nos. of students got admission against 40 Nos. of intake as per INC norms for the year 2010-2011. Today, large nos. of aspiring students are taking up Nursing as their future career NEPNI School of Nursing aiming for academic excellence in the terms of students in the near future NEPNI Trust has projected to upgrade NEPNI School of Nursing by opening ANM & B.Sc.
