Department of Aerospace:-
This Department was started in the year 2015 to offer UG program in Aerospace Engineering with an approved intake of 60. Imparting quality education in Aerospace Engineering with emphasis on research, sustainability technologies and entrepreneurship for societal symbiosis has been the primary motive behind starting this new program. The Department's main objective is to create expertise in specialized areas in aerospace engineering such as aerospace structural design, Aerodynamics, propulsion systems & control systems with focus on research and innovation.

Department of Biotechnology :-
The programs offered by the department are the most sought after ones by Common Entrance Test (conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority) top rank holders and other aspirants from across the country. All the three programs are outcome based, structured to meet the needs of Industry and Research. The program contents are upgraded with the involvement of industry and reputed research institutions.

Department of Chemical Engineering :-
Chemical Engineering is involved in conversion of less useful raw materials into more useful products by means of unit operations and unit processes. Chemical Engineers work in the areas of process design, equipment design, production, product development, process automation, R&D and marketing and related fields. Recent developments in nanotechnology, pharmatechnology, biotechnology and electronic industry, along with existing areas like petroleum technology, bulk and specialty chemical manufacture, requires strong mathematical background coupled with analytical abilities.
The department was started in the year 1982 to meet requirements of the emerging discipline of Chemical Engineering and those associated with it. The Bachelor of Engineering program in Chemical Engineering is autonomous programme affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. This program has been accredited twice by the National Board of Accreditation for 5 years in 2003 and in 2008.
The department also offers a post graduate M.Tech Degree programme.
In 2002, the department was recognized as a research center by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, with facility for M.Sc (Engineering) by research and Ph.D.

Departments of Civil Engineering :-
The Department was established in the year 1963 with the UG program (B.E.in Civil Engineering) and is one of the oldest branches of RVCE. The department has been imparting quality education to meet the technological advancement and industrial requirements. The present intake for the undergraduate program is 120 and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University(VTU) Belagavi with an Autonomous status. The department started two PG programs under VTU in Structural Engineering and Highway Technology in the year 2006 and 2009 respectively with a total intake of 36 students. The department is also involved in research and development and is a recognized research centre under VTU. B.E in Civil Engineering program is accredited for three years in 2003, 2007 and for two years in 2013.
The Department is involved in R&D work, offers consultancy services and conduct training programmes for industry and government organizations. Students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Industry Institute interaction is nurtured by organizing and coordinating frequent industrial visits, Expert Lectures, Seminars.Reputed companies like L&T ECC, Shapoorji Pallonji, Brigade Group, Atkins, Total Environment, Tata Consulting engineers, Cognizant Technologies, Accenture recruit students of the department.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering :-
Department of Computer Science & Engineering has a total of 51 teaching faculty members with various specializations in computer science, out of which 15 are Ph.D. holders and 27 are pursuing Ph.D. The Department has state-of-the-art infrastructure and computing equipment supported by high speed Ethernet and wireless networks. Various student organisations like CSI Chapter, IEEE Student Chapter are active throughout the year.
The intake for undergraduate program is 180 students and 18 each for M.Tech (CSE) and M.Tech (CNE). The faculty student ratio is 1:14. The Department has a comprehensive curriculum on topics related to all aspects of Computer Hardware and Software with an emphasis on practical learning. The course structure is in line with latest advances in technology which equip the students with the latest developments in Computer Science and Engineering.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in year 1984. The Department offers B.E (CSE) undergraduate program, two postgraduate programs M.Tech(CSE) and M.Tech(CNE). Department also offers M.Sc by research and Ph.D. degree in various specializations of Computer Science and Engineering.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering has MoUs for Research, Consultancy and training with multinational companies and government agencies such as CISCO, Citrix, Nihon, Gnostice, Sapient ,Infosys Technologies and Karnataka Forest department. Department has industry sponsored labs from CISCO, IBM and Nvidia GPU research centre. Departments of Electrical and Electronics Engineering :-
Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department caters to the needs of the U.G. students both interms of Acadamics and Soft skills. The knowledge acquired during the courses helps them to be placed both in core and software companies.
Post graduate students are exposed to comprehensive knowledge in Power Electronics domain which inturn helps them to carryout research activities and parallelly acquire jobs Core and software companies. They can also enter teaching profession in various Engineering colleges across India.
Students acquire software and hardware design capabilities which makes them efficient to face the corporate world. Some of the prominant companies who have placed EEE students are ABB, L&T, GE, PRDC,ROBERT BOSCH,WIPRO,INFOSYS, CTS and TCS etc..
The Department of Electrical and Electronics, is one of the oldest departments at R V College of Engineering. Established in the year 1963, the department has well qualified; passionate and dedicated staff, most of who are engaged in path breaking research and development. With a current annual intake of 60 students from all parts of India, the staff to student ratio now stands at a plausible 1:13.
The Course at the department, is a healthy amalgam of Power Engineering, Electronics and Computers; comprehensive and in keeping modern trends of Electrical and Electronics Engineering education. Course pattern at the department is planned to keep the students up to date with the recent trends and shifting technological paradigms, making them industry ready. The course was accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The department has a total of 21 faculty members with various specializations, out of which 8 are PhD holders and all remaining 11 are pursuing PhD. The average experience of the faculty is very high. Students are required to undergo quizzes in addition to assignments and self study evaluation. They are evaluated on regular basis there by making the course learning and just not grade oriented.

Departments of Electronics and Communication Engineering :-
The Electronics & Communication Engineering Department was started in the year 1972 and now conducts one undergraduate program, two postgraduate programs (M. Tech in VLSI Design & Embedded Systems and M. Tech in Communication Systems) with academic autonomy, and Ph.D program with affiliation to VTU. A total of 58 experienced faculty members, support four core specializations (VLSI Design, Wireless & Wireline Communications, Signal processing and Embedded Systems) in the department.
UG & PG students are encouraged to take up interdisciplinary research in various domains and students are placed in reputed companies like Intel, NXP Semiconductors, SanDisk, Cisco IT, Qualcomm, Robert Bosch, Deloitte. The department has MOU with various leading industries like Texas Instruments, NXP Semiconductors, Intel, Keysight technologies and research establishments like Department of Sericulture, Govt. of Karnataka.

Departments of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering :-
The Instrumentation Technology Department was established in the year 1981 with a Startup intake of 40 students and the current Intake is 60 students. The Instrumentation Technology was later nomenclated as "Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering" from the year 2014.
The department also runs a Post-Graduate Programme in Bio Medical Signal Processing and Instrumentation and an established Research Centre in 2011, affiliated to VTU Belagavi .
The syllabi of the courses are contemporary and constantly updated as per industry needs and the laboratories are modernized to reflect the latest changes in technology. It offers high quality research as part of its PhD programs. The Department has been accredited multiple times by NBA, New Delhi, the latest being in 2013 for UG and in 2014 for PG.

Department of Industrial and Engineering Management :-
The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) is accorded Autonomous status by VTU, Belgavi and UGC, New Delhi in the year 2007. The state of the art Physical infrastructure has been established in order to promote a congenial academic environment to impart quality education.
The cirriculum help the students to gain the knowledge and skills in the areas of Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Functional areas of management, Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, Quality Management and Quantitative Models for decision making apart from basic engineering knowledge and skills with emphasis on overall personality development. Apart from this, the students develop systems thinking abilities to handle complex problem solving situations by undergoing variour Techno-Managerial activites and mould themselves as a generalist engineer who can serve in various sectors such as Manufacturing, Service and Research organizations.
Students are constantly being recruited by various well known, private and government companies and provided with the opportunity to contribute and serve towards the betterment of the society in different desciplines such as manufacturing industries, service industries, software companies, Finance sectors and also in R&D. The students also gain the qualities, skill sets and competancy required to become a succesful entrepreneur and work towards the economic development of nation.
With a focus on developing technical and managerial competence amongst students for employment, the department has offered Post Graduate program in Master of Engineering Management in the year 2011 - 12.

Department of Information Science and Engineering :-
The Department of Information Science and Engineering has 25 faculty with 7 Doctorates and 18 persuing Ph D in reputed universities.. The department maintains faculty student ratio of 1:13 and 1:12 for UG and PG programs respectively. It hosts faculty who are involved in supporting funded research and consultancy projects apart from training the students in academics. Department houses facility for conducting QEEE classes which is an initiative from MHRD.
The Department also has a reputed research center recognized by VTU. Well qualified and eminent faculty members are guiding Ph.D scholars in advanced areas of Information Sciences. The research center is actively involved in current areas of information technology presenting papers at conferences which are widely published in international and national journals and conferences thereby producing research outputs of international standard. Several patents have been filed by the Department faculty/scholars. Faculty of the department have executed many research projects supported by NRB, General Motors (R&D), DRDO, AICTE, Armament Research Board, Naval Research Board, UGC, GE (R&D),Technological Development for Indian Languages and others. Industry incubation center has been set up in the department to train potential entrepreneurs. Regular technical talks and seminars/workshops are being conducted for both faculty and students.

Department of Mechanical Engineering :-
About the department
The department started the UG program (B.E in Mechanical Engineering) with an initial intake of 40 students in 1963 with affiliation to Bangalore University. The present intake is 120 and affiliated to VTU, Belgavi with autonomous status. Research and Development centre was established in 1986 with affiliation to Mysore University. Department R&D is involved in sponsored research, consultancy, testing and characterization along with offering MS and Doctoral Programs. The department started M.Tech programs under VTU in Product Design and Manufacturing, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Machine Design and Tool Engineering in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008 respectively with a total intake of 90 students. B.E in Mechanical Engineering program is accredited for three years in 2000 , for five years in 2003 , 2008 and for two years in 2015. M.Tech in Product Design and Manufacturing is accredited for three years in 2014. Department has Eight Professors, Twelve Associate Professors, Twenty three Assistant Professors and three visiting professors. Mechanical Engineering emphasizes on Design, Materials & Manufacturing, Thermal Engineering, and also interdisciplinary areas like CAD/CAM/CAE, Automation, Operational Research, Mechatronics, FEM, Managerial Aspects of Industry.

Department of Telecommunication Engineering Deparment

The focus of the Department of Telecommunication Engineering is to produce graduates with strong fundamentals in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering domain, which is established in 1992, post graduates in Digital Communication Engineering established in 2004 and RF & Microwave Engineering established in 2013. In 2001, a separate Telecommunication Engineering department was established. The Under Graduate program is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi, in 2003 for 2 years, 2007 for 5 years and 2015 for 2 years.
Telecommunication Engineering graduates had achieved a placement of 96% on an average during last 3 years. The salary packages are up to a maximum of 8 Lakhs per annum. Companies like Intel, Alcatel-Lucent, Texas Instruments, IBM, TCS, Samsung, Emphasis, Atos Origin and many more, offer internship and placement opportunities. Department has industry based laboratories such as Keysight Advanced RF and Wireless communication Lab, Tejas networks Lab and Pace embedded systems Lab. Students are motivated to participate in research projects in the areas of, but not limited to; Microwaves communication, Antenna Design, Smart Antenna systems, Image Processing, Large Area & Flexible Electronics.
The Department has undertaken many research projects funded both by multinationals and government agencies, worth of Rs. Rs 85.45 Lakhs. The department creates industry supported laboratory facilities for Optical Netwroks and RF & Mircowave Engineering. The department has facilities to carry out researck in key areas.
