The Sun Temple in Modhera is a magnificent temple complex located in the state of Gujarat, India. Built in the 11th century, the temple is dedicated to the Hindu sun god, Surya. It is a perfect example of ancient Indian temple architecture and is considered one of the finest temples in India.
The temple complex consists of three main structures - the Gudhamandapa (sanctum sanctorum), the Sabha Mandap (assembly hall), and the Surya Kund (a rectangular tank). The Gudhamandapa houses a large image of the sun god Surya, which is believed to have been covered in gold at one time.
