Stages to become a Company Secretary

There are three stages to pursue the Company Secretaries Course Foundation Programme, Executive Programme and Professional Programme.
Stage 1 Foundation Programme
Students after passing 10+2 or its equivalent examination can apply for ICSI CS Foundation exam,
It is an eight (08) months course
Admission is open throughout the year
The registration for Foundation Programme is valid for three (03) years
There are four (4) subjects in Foundation programme: i) Business Environment & Entrepreneurship ii) Business Management, Ethics and Communication iii) Business Economics iv) Fundamentals of Accounting and Auditing

Stage 2 Executive Programme
Bachelor s Degree (except in Fine Arts), Foundation pass of ICSI, Foundation pass of ICAI-CMA, CPT Pass of ICAI can start from this stage
Those who have passed their Bachelor s Degree Examinations in any subject (except in Fine Arts) are eligible to seek registration directly to Executive Programme
The registration for CS Executive programme is open throughout the year
The ICSI CS Registration for Executive programme is valid for five (5) years

Subjects in Executive Programme
There are eight subjects covered under two modules
Module 1
Jurisprudence, Interpretation & General laws
Company law
Setting up of business entities and closure
Tax Laws
Module 2
Corporate & Management Accounting
Securities laws & capital markets
Economic, business and commercial laws
Financial and strategic management

Stage 3 Professional Programme
The Professional Programme can be pursued only after clearing the Executive Programme of CS Course
ICSI CS Registration Fees for Foundation/ Executive programme
The registration for CS Foundation and Executive programme is considered to be complete only if the candidate pays the requisite amount of the Registration fee.

Documents Required for ICSI CS Registration
To register for ICSI CS for Foundation/ Executive/ Professional programme, the candidates need to keep the following list of documents ready:
1. Photograph of the candidate
2. Signature of the candidate
3. DOB Certificate (10th Pass Certificate)
4. Roll Number (if appearing in 10+2)
5. 12th Passing certificate/Mark sheet
6. Category Certificate (if belonging to SC/ST OR Physically Handicapped Category)
7. Identity proof(Adhaar Card/Passport/Voter ID/Pan Card/Driving License/Ration Card)
