BBM (Bachelors of Business Management) and sometime during the beginning of my final year the UGC (University Grants Commission) made it mandatory to rename BBM to BBA. When that wasn't the case the fee structures differed, BBA having the higher fee structure of around 1.2 (this is if you've had 7years in Karnataka) and 95000 INR for BBM. The fee difference was because of the tie ups with foreign university abroad so BBA students could choose 2years of foreign exchange programme with the tie ups they have in the UK (Swansea University) and 1year in Christ University. BBM didn't have that opportunity. Now everything is BBA. So there is no BBM. There is regular BBA, BBA travel& tourism which was previously B.COM Travel and Tourism and BBA (International Business)
Now, there is no difference in any of the management courses. The subject are exactly the same. Though the examination patterns are different. The regular BBA writes a regular 50 marks paper( mid semester) a 100 marks (end semester) and CIA's (Continuous Internal Assessment) which is class tests, presentations, maintaining your notes etc. BBA (International Business) has a higher weightage of CIA's which is 60marks of internal assessments and 40 marks of end semesters. So it will be extremely essential for you to pass your internal assessments because of the higher weightage and for you to move ahead with your course. It's easy and doable.
I'm sure there have been certain changes and you will figure this out. You will also have to do a summer internship programme at the end of your 2nd year and produce a report. This will be a general internship but I would suggest you take this up based on what specialisation you want to do in your final year. I did mine in Mahindra&Mahindra Financial Services Limited. My specialisation was finance in the final year. You will also have Goldman Sachs coming in for internship recruitments and they mostly provide offer letters to grads they picked up. They provide you with good experience of finance, operations, compliance, auditing etc. Whichever department you get selected as an intern for. You must have 60-65% marks to be eligible to sit through selection rounds.
Christ also provides you an opportunity to do your internship in Washington DC. You must remain noticeable and in the good books of your professors as they're the ones who are going to take your initial interview and then you'll have final interview with the Vice Chancellor of the college.
The college is excellent, provides you good infrastructure, a beautiful campus and an amazing bunch of people you can find your friends in, provided you choose the right ones ofc. BBA also has some really pretty looking girls (one of the best courses) and really handsome guys (if you're a girl) so there is that, I found the love of my life here and I hope you find yours too. (Never too early or cheesy to say that. Seriously)
The course is nothing out of the blue. It's the same subjects. It's like being in IIM and being in a private MBA college. The subjects are the same only the exposure and tag matters. So yes, Christ is number one college in country for BBA and they take that seriously.
The course will give you exposure to lot of management fests, teams to be part of, extra curricular activities etc. I was part of the Photography team of Management Studies called 'The Snappers'. The Management Studies department boasts of hosting the biggest fest in the country called 'The Esprit' its an international fest where students come from abroad and around the country to participate. 2days long fest. So please do be a part of committees, you'll get to bunk a lot of classes with attendance.
Now coming to placement. BBA students do get placed. Everyone I knew who wanted to get placed got placed. Though there is no such thing as 'BBA placements' if any company comes in you're more likely to find everyone competing for it. Right from B.sc to MBA Finance has the maximum placements followed by marketing and HR specialisation. So don't get discouraged if you don't get in, I was amongst the last few guys in my batch to get placed. I work for AON. Packages overall range from 1.8LPA to 12LPA. Depends on how good you're again. I can take names. Goldman's Sachs, Barclays, EY, KPMG, Deloitte, Amazon, Xchanging, AON, Futures First etc. I suggest you have an aggregae of 60% and higher and you'll be eligible for most of them. If you don't get placed you can try for start ups or contact your seniors who are already working and they'd be more than happy to recommend you. I'd recommend you as well.
BBA from Christ is good, course wise it's awesome because of Western Michigan University syllabus, some of the teachers are wise and a few are otherwise. You would love the classes by Non- BBA faculties- some of them are Gods of their subjects. Placements are also fine.
BBA F&IB course of Christ University, an extension of the honours course. Let me be clear on one topic. The college course does not matter much. Most of the colleges offer courses with good material and syllabus and Christ would not have received its prestigious awards and the tag of a university if each and every one of its course was not up to the mark. Today companies do not look at the course but rather your experience in it. And Christ provides an excellent opportunity to gain on-hands experience as well as knowledge through extra curricular activities. I would recommend Christ also because once you get into Christ the competition itself is such that it pushes you to exceed yourself.
What is the eligibility of pursuing BBA from Christ University?
You should ve appeared for 12th boards. ( any board)
you need to clear their entrance test.
last stage is the interview to which Christ gives very much importance but with BBA course the interview is very basic.
(relax because Christ has a lot of seats for BBA so any random person who can converse in English can get through very very easily.)
They don t care about your marks which is practical. So don t even worry about your selection if you ve scored bad in earlier classes.
What is the full fee structure for bba in christ university including food, hostel and all facilities?
Assuming that you're in for BBA. These are the costs you'll have to bear.
Fees for the 1st year : 1,00,000 (For students belonging to South Indian states) to
1,40,000 (for North India)
So assuming you are from North India.
1. Academic fees
First year : 1,40,000 + 5000 (academic registeration fee)
Second year : 1,05,000
Third year : 1,05,000
Total : 3,55,000
2. Accommodation
Christ University offers hostel facilities. (But you won't have a life there, gates close at 8 PM)
So the average two sharing rates in a PG near Christ University is 9,000 for boys.
And 12,500 for girls.
The rent includes food provided by PGs. But let me tell you, you'll be having your lunch in college itself. Plus, the taste of the food made in PGs is obviously bad. (Unless you find and research for the best options)
So the food costs would be approximately on an average, 160-250 per day.
So, monthly expenditure would be 4800 to 7500
Yearly, it would be 52,800 to 82,500
Lastly. Other costs such as books, or donations, and costs for industry visits and other miscellaneous expenditure amounts to approx 200 per month.
So 2200 for this.
Adding up all the above costs.
3,55,000 - Academic fees
4,12,500 - Accommodation
2,10,000 - Food
6,600 - Extras
Total = 9,84,100
What are the average placements that BBA students at Christ University Bangalore
The placements will begin around your 5th semester and will continue till the end of your 6th semester. You can choose what companies you wish to sit for based on 2 factors.
1. Your aggregate %
2. Your specialisation in the final year.
I would suggest you keep your aggregate % around 60 - 70% and you shall see yourself remaining eligible for most of the companies. Ofc, in addition to this you will also have to clear their aptitude tests and interviews.
My specialisation was finance and I got placed for AON. I was one of the last few people in my batch to get placed. The university takes pride in its placements and more or less 100% of the students get placed through campus. However, if you don't, don't get discouraged, remain in contact with your seniors and they can recommend you in the organizations they're already working for. The main thing is to make sure you have decent marks, presuming you're an average joe like me when it comes to academics.
Your placements will range from startups to established MNC's. I can take some names, Deloitte, KPMG, AON, Xchanging, Futures First, Facebook, L&T, TCS, Zomato, Thomson&Reuters, Societies Generale all of which are industry leaders in their respective segments.
Also, keep in mind that there is no such thing as BBA placements specifically. If a company comes to campus, you're most likely going to face stiff competition from B.Sc, BBA, B.COM, MFM, MBA etc. So you'll have to fight your way through. But don't worry, you'll make it. :)
Hope I helped. Feel free to leave comments if you have any queries. :)
Thanks for A2A.
Good luck! :)
I am currently studying BBA (Honors) at Christ University and am in my final year that is when the placements take place.
The placements are good with a lot of major companies like Aon Hewitt and Goldman Sachs coming for campus placements.
If a job is your major concern, then you will find one at the end end of your graduation, almost everyone does.
The average package for a fresher with no experience is usually around 4 lakhs per annum.
