Businayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering (BMS): The college is an autonomous engineering college in Basavangudi, Bangalore, India. It also has Evening college (BMSECE), a non autonomous college, which comes under VTU. The engineering college, started in 1946 by B. M. Sreenivasiah, was the first private sector initiative in technical education in India and is run by the BMS Educational Trust. The college was affiliated with Bangalore University until 1998. It was affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University from 1998 to 2008, and became autonomous in 2008. BMSCE is located on the Basavangudi Area Bull Temple Road, opposite to the famous Bull Temple. Though a private engineering college, it is partially funded by the Government of Karnataka.

About the Department
The department started its journey during 1984-85, when Computer Science education was in its infancy in India. It is proud to share that the MCA Program in BMSCE is one of the oldest and the best programs in the country. The department offers autonomous curriculum for MCA program from 2016-17. The applications in Computer Science are indispensable part of our lives, shaping everything around us in the way in which we live, travel, work, play, connect and socialise.
The strength of the department is Alumni, Faculty, staff members and students. Our Alumni occupy coveted positions in notable industry and academic institutions. The department has dedicated, committed and accomplished faculty members supported by technical and administrative staff. In addition to regular laboratories, the department has developed Innovation Cluster Lab (ICL) Centre of Excellence in Internet of Things supported by Industry Experts and Data Analytics and Research Lab (DAR). The students get exposed to real time projects by working in these labs. The department has its own department library with over 6339 books and access to various journals and conference proceedings.
The students are also encouraged to participate in extracurricular and Co-curricular activities along with the regular academic activities to groom their holistic personality. The skill set of student is enhanced through regular Extension Lectures, workshops, Industrial Visits, Alumni Interactions and professional body activities.
Stride-our annual Department magazine is prepared completely by the students with minimal support from faculty members. The quality of our students is reflected in their placement track record (both on Campus and off Campus) and the software applications developed by them.
Learning is a continuous process and does not end at the end of three years. The department believes that innovative teaching-learning methods, coupled with problem solving using modern tools and self-study helps the students to enhance their skills and enable them to handle the challenges faced in their professional life.
