About Courses At RV College Of Engineering (RVCE):

BIOTECHNOLOGY - RVCE established the Biotechnology department in 2002-2003, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) with adequate support from the R.S.S.T. The Department is accredited for 5 years by National Board of Accreditation (2008-13), infrastructure facilities of the department are spread over 2044 Sq Meters with well equipped laboratories, lecture halls and departmental library. It also has an air conditioned seminar hall accommodating 120 persons with multi media facilities. The department library is well stocked with reference books, text books and journals.
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING - R V College of Engineering realized the need for skilled Chemical Engineers in the exponentially growing technological environment. This implanted the idea of adding Chemical Engineering branch and in the year 1982 the department of Chemical Engineering was established. Since then the department has grown by leaps and bounds and imparted quality education and groomed students in all facets of education: character, technical competency and overall personality. The National Board of Accreditation has accredited the department for 5 years in the year 2003 and again for 5 years in the year 2008; this is a testimony to the high standards the department has maintained in technical education. The department has been recognized as a research center by Visveshraya Technological University, Belgaum from 2002.
CIVIL ENGINEERING - Department of Civil Engineering of RVCE is one of the oldest branch, started in the year 1964 the department has been imparting quality education to meet the technological advancement and industrial requirements. This has been made possible due to qualified and dedicated faculty, state of the art laboratories and infrastructure facilities. The department is accredited by NBA from last five years and has been recognised as research center by VTU. The total student intake at present for BE (Civil Engineering) is 60
COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING - The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program was started in the year 1984.The main focus of the department is to produce graduates & post graduates with strong fundamentals in Computer Science and Engineering domain. The course is an outcome based structured to help students to achieve this goal. The course was accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Top rank holders from Common Entrance Test (conducted by Karnataka examination authority) and other aspirants prefer this program.
ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS - The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, established in 1963. The department is accredited by Department of Electrical & Electronics EngineeringNBA. The present intake for Electrical and Electronics Engineering is Sixty. The Department of Electrical and Electronics, is one of the oldest departments at R V College of Engineering. Established in the year 1963, the department has well qualified; passionate and dedicated staff most of who are engaged in path breaking research adn development. With a current annual intake of 60 students from all parts of India, The staff to student ratio now stands at a plausible 1:13.

INSTRUMENTATION TECHNOLOGY - The department was established in the year 1981 with an intake of 40 students. The present intake is 60. The department has been imparting quality Engineering Education and is grooming students in all facets of Creative Learning, Technical Competency, Character building and Overall Personality Development. Well Qualified and experienced faculty members is the forte’ of IT Department. The faculty members are encouraged to take independent initiatives with collective responsibility in all the relevant academic and R&D activities, such as teaching, curriculum development, graduate research supervision, R&D, continuing education - organizing Proficiency courses, conferences, workshops and seminars. The department has to its credit sanctioned projects and programmes, sponsored by DRDO, DST, NRB and AICTE.
INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING & MANAGEMENT - The department of Industrial Engineering and Management is accredited by National Board of Accreditation and affiliated under VTU. Department is offering UG program in Industrial Engineering and Management with the intake of fifty students and has a research centre affiliated to VTU. The Department was established in the year 1985 under Bangalore university affiliation. The philosophy and motivation of the Industrial Engineering profession is to find the most efficient and effective methods, procedures, and processes for operating systems, and to seek continuous improvement. Thus, industrial engineering helps organizations grow and expand efficiently during periods of prosperity, and streamline costs and consolidate and reallocate resources during austere times. Industrial Management - the branch of engineering that detail with the creation and management of systems that integrate people and materials and energy in productive ways.
INFORMATION SCIENCE & ENGINEERING - The Department was started in the year 2000. The present intake of the undergraduate program is 60. The course has become popular among students due to the achievements and rigor. In the year 2006, the department also started M.Tech in Software Engineering followed by M.Tech in Information Technology. The department has well equipped classrooms and computer laboratories with high-end systems. The department is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).The department is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1963 with affiliation to Bangalore University and an initial intake of 40 students. Presently the department is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) with autonomous status. The present intake for the undergraduate programme is 120 students. The faculty to student ratio is 1:14. Mechanical Engineering emphasizes on Design, Materials & Manufacturing, Thermal Engineering, and also interdisciplinary areas like CAD/CAM/CAE, Automation, Operational Research, Mechatronics, FEM, Managerial Aspects of Industry, etc.
TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING - It is a growing industry and has created ample scope for people joining telecommunication engineering. Also the society depends heavily on the breakthroughs in telecommunication engineering. Applications include satellites, next generation mobile phone, air traffic control, the internet and much more. Multimedia services are opening up communications possibilities and therefore a number of employment opportunities will arise in future.
