Highlights of Common Admission Test-(CAT)

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test for admission in a graduate management program. The test scores a candidate on the bases of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR). The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this exam and use the test for selecting students for their business administration programs. The test is conducted every year by one of the IIMs based on a policy of rotation.

CAT (Common Admission Test) is the premier all India management entrance exam conducted by IIMs. Last year 2,04,267 students competed for 1550+ seats making it the most competitive exam in the country. The IIMs are the premier management institutes in India established by an act of Parliament.

The Common Admission Test (CAT), like virtually all large-scale exams, utilises multiple forms, or versions, of the test. Hence there are two types of scores involved: a raw score and a scaled score.

The raw score is calculated for each section based on the number of questions one answered correctly, incorrectly, or left unattempted. Candidates are given +3 points for each correct answer and -1 point for each incorrect answer. No points are given for questions that are not answered. The raw scores are then adjusted through a process called equating. Equated raw scores are then placed on a common scale or metric to ensure appropriate interpretation of the scores. This process is called scaling.

Results of CAT 2023
To check the result and download the scorecard, candidates have to enter their User id and Password. After the release of results, board will publish the list of candidates who have successfully qualified the exam and selected for further admission process.

The scorecard contain the details of the candidates and their performance shown in the entrance exam. It contain overall and sectional marks and percentile secured by the candidates in the test.

Cut Off of CAT 2023
The exam conducting authority will release the cut off for various category after the releasing of result. The cut off can also be released after the written examination. The candidates those will obtain the marks equal or above than the cut off marks can participate for the admission. The cut off will be varied every year for each category.

The cut off will be released in the month of November. Candidates can check the cut off marks through online mode. Candidates should carefully check the cut off marks and appear for admission process in various participating institutions as per the cut off marks of the respective institutions in which they wants to apply.

Shortlisted candidates will be intimated by various IIMS and participating institutions. Candidates have to appear for Written Ability, Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds at the allotted institutions within the prescribed time period.
