Located right in the middle of the Mookambika National Park of Western Ghats, Kodachadri is considered as a biodiversity hotspot, as it is home to numerous prevalent and endangered types of flora and fauna.
Kodachadri alongside escape2explore can be explored in 3 different routes and to make the trek interesting we take the Hidlumane Route where on the trek you can explore Waterfall and proceeding further in to the wildlife zone where you can spot some wildlife if lucky you can spot Bison’s and wild Boars and again wildlife movement is not under our control as the forest area is vast and dense.
Moving further upwards you can spot the Jeep track which joins the main route towards Kodachadri this spot is popularly called as Galipata Shooting Spot and from here also sunrise can be viewed and this place offers the view of Agumbe peaks which receives the highest rainfall in south India.
Moving further up will be the temple point where you can view the Trishul of the goddess Mookambika. This Trishul was used by goddess to destroy the demon Mookasura long time ago and also this is the birth place of goddess Mookambika. During the period of Sankaracharya the goddess had moved from this place and had temple built by him near Kollur where god rests blessing all devotes who visit here.
The peak is again two kms from this place and trekking to the tip is the Shankara point or sarvajna Peeta this is place to view sunset on a clear day can view sunset on background of Arabian Sea and also this was the place where Sankaracharya meditated and goddess Mookambika appeared and gave him the boons.
Just below this place is the cave where the Ganapathi idol is placed called as Ganapathi guhe and this cave has the route directly to Kollur where the temple of Mookambika is present.
