The sump and overhead tank must be cleaned properly at
periodic intervals and it should be properly covered to
overcome the problem. This is a simple task that can be
done when the sumps and tank are almost empty to ensure no
wastage of water occurs. Once, the tanks are cleaned and
fresh water is stored in it, the quality of water can
maintained for some period. This is a very effective
practice that can be carried out as other means of
purification will require regular dosage of chemicals and
cleaning routines. The underground sump and the overhead
tank needs periodic cleaning. At least 3 times in a year.
Check for cracks if any in the Sump. Do not store water for
longer period in the sump. If your sump is large and you are
not able to consume water the stagnet water gets the
residual chlorine diluted. So once in a week 5-10 grams of
bleaching powder may be added to the sump water when the
water level in it is low.
