Statistical data analysis is part of most researchers life. Methodology employed for a research depends on the objective of the study and the expected outcome. Therefore, you may either choose to go for quantitative or qualitative method. Quantitative method requires collection of real time data or through surveys with the help of a questionnaire. The collected data is then coded in an Excel sheet. Though up to this part, the journey looks smooth (as you are aware of your research very well), now comes the trickiest part of analysis of the data, which not everyone can do it on their own. Our knowledge on statistical analysis may be limited as we don t belong to that field. Your mind reels under the pressure of time and the appropriate tools to analyze the data. We may have learnt basic statistics in college, but our knowledge is limited to learning formulas. The application of the tools in our study is not taught; hence we are left to the mercy of our seniors or statisticians to do our analysis.
Statisticians can churn out charts and figures for the data provided, but are they using the appropriate tools to suit our theory is a question we may not be able to answer. Few more questions that we have include how do we interpret the results produced? What does p<0.05 mean? Is my result significant? We understand your dilemma. Therefore, we have arranged for this ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON BASIC STATISTICS.

This workshop is mainly to overcome the fear of statistics, learn the basic tools and feel confident of analyzing our own data. This workshop will not use any difficult-to-understand jargons. The language will be simple so that any person can understand and apply the techniques taught.

To provide hands-on experience on univariate and bivariate analysis using SPSS.
