Shillong is known as the "Scotland of the East" because of its striking resemblance to the Scottish highlands. The British were reminded of Scotland by the rolling hills around the town and the four seasons in a day. Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya and is located in the northeast part of India. It's known for its evergreen panorama and cold to moderate climate.
