Sri Siddhartha Medical College (SSMC) was started in 1988 by the Sri Siddhartha Educational Society (SSES). The College of Medicine and hospital is located on the outskirts of Tumkur and is surrounded by a green field on a 220-acre campus. The campus comprises 21 buildings with built-up area of approximately 73,875 sq m and separate buildings for Pre and Clinical departments, extensive library and information center and SSMC Hospital.

The institute brings a sense of creativity, talent and knowledge to young mimos in the blooming field of medicine. Also, to provide a high academic atmosphere to shape the young mind and make them welcome the future with enthusiasm and stability. In addition, a guide to the talents of each student, to develop their skills and guide them to develop a unique personality with the goal of making them better citizens. The MBBS course is a four and a half year period followed by a one year compulsory rotating residential internship. The lasting 12-month internship includes short courses in community health, medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, child health, orthopedics, emergency medicine, and various specialties. All these are according to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India. Admission to the MBBS program is based on the candidate marks obtained in the NEET-UG rank held by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
