I started this blog out of an immense passion for food, travel, stories, and writing. I call myself an organic writer, a seasoned traveler, and an unconventional foodie. My writing skill, my travel mode, my eating habit and my cooking style are not infected by the formalities of any structured ordinance. I found my freedom of expression in these. When I travel, eat, and cook, I don’t want to be reminded of what the “proper Stepford wives” way is. When I travel, I want to be passionately adventurous. When I write, I want to be inappropriately improper. When I cook, I want to be feverishly flammable. When I eat, I want to be lusciously dangerous.

I crossed path with countless interesting individuals throughout my globetrotting adventure, who provided me with such rich materials for my penmanship. I picked up dishes and recipes that I can’t live without from my travel. At home, I recreated those dishes with my own drops of creativity, and voila… something unusual was born. I wrote everything I wanted to remember while savoring those dishes and rekindle those sweet memories.

I was brewed to eat well from my childhood, where every meal was a forum to share stories. I used to sit on the kitchen stool watching my grandma peeling ginger, grating cheese and steaming banana leaves, while eating my afternoon snack, usually a plate of breadfruit frieten (fried breadfruit) or a glass of schokomelk. Since then I have lived and traveled to almost 40 countries in every continent. The potential combination of mixing and matching elements of ethnic cuisines from these places is beyond infinity, not to mention the endless stories attached to them.

I don’t remember when I started to write as it seems so long ago. I picked up writing as a child because often I resourced to my own imagination to keep me entertained. I grew to love writing and creating stories after stories. I earned my first published work at a young age, which was a short fiction, followed by more short fictions over the next few years. I started writing plays a few years later, out of which two were staged. My plays were still very much centered around fictional characters, although I started to blend the two opposite worlds together. In my own terms, they are not too far fetched. Eventually my pieces morphed to focus more on the real issues from the real lives around me. It fascinates me when people share their stories which become my best inspiration at hand. By the time I was legal to drive, I became a freelance journalist under the tutelage of my rather-famous mentor, out of which I produced several investigative reporting that changed my life forever.

Now, fast forward many years later, writing is still my best expression of life. It’s better writing than start drinking!!
