Job description:
Job Title: CNC Operator
Department: Production / Machine Shop
Reports To: Production Supervisor / Machine Shop Lead
Job Summary:
The CNC Operator is responsible for operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to manufacture precision components according to specifications. The role requires an understanding of machine operations, blueprint reading, tooling adjustments, and quality control to ensure efficient production.
1. Machine Operation & Setup
Operate CNC machines (Turning, Milling, Grinding, etc.) as per production requirements.
Load raw materials and set up tools and fixtures on machines.
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
Adjust machine settings (speed, feed, and depth of cut) to optimize machining processes.
Conduct first-piece inspections and ensure proper machine calibration.
2. Quality Control & Inspection
Ensure components meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
Identify defects or deviations and take corrective actions in coordination with the supervisor.
3. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform routine machine maintenance such as lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs.
Identify mechanical issues and report to the maintenance team for resolution.
Ensure proper handling and storage of tools and materials.
4. Safety & Compliance
Adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and ISO standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of machine settings, production output, and quality reports.
Report daily production progress to the supervisor.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
ITI / Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in CNC machine operation.
Knowledge of CNC programming (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Mazak, or other controllers) is an advantage.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
Experience with precision measuring instruments and quality control processes.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work in shifts and meet production deadlines.
