The Institute was established under the auspices of Karpaga Vinayaga Eduacational Trust at GST Road, adjacent to NH-45, near Maduranthagam, Kancheepuram Dist., in Tamilnadu. KIMS occupies the sprawling area of 63 acres with independent RCC structures housing various educational, instructional, and hospital areas along with allied necessary structures like hostels for both boys and girls, hygenic canteens, modernised gymnasium, etc.

Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences(KIMS) is a self-financing co-educational college dedicated to the training of medical doctors. The College offers a 5 year 6 month duration of study for the M.B.B.S program. The curriculum and school leadership are provided by M.G.R Medical University, Chennai. The medium of instruction is English.
