Job description:
A VMC CNC Setter and Operator sets up, programs, and operates Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) to produce parts according to engineering blueprints and quality standards. Key duties include machine setup with tools and fixtures, interpreting G-code and blueprints, first-piece inspection, routine machine maintenance, quality control of finished parts, and maintaining accurate production records.

Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup: Install and align tools, fixtures, and workpieces on the VMC machine according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Programming & Operation: Load, edit, and run pre-written CNC programs or perform manual programming to machine parts. Operate the VMC machine during production, monitoring operations for accuracy and efficiency.
Quality Control: Conduct first-piece inspections and ongoing checks of finished parts using measuring instruments to ensure they meet quality specifications and dimensional tolerances.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning of the machine. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machine malfunctions, programming errors, or worn tooling.
Documentation: Maintain records of machine operations, including setup details, production output, and maintenance activities.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all company safety protocols, maintain a clean work environment, and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: Proven experience as a CNC or VMC Operator/Setter.
Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
Mechanical Aptitude: Good mechanical understanding to effectively operate and maintain the machine.
CNC Knowledge: Proficiency in CNC programming (G-code) and knowledge of tool selection, offsets, and work holding techniques.
Measurement Tools: Ability to use precision measuring instruments like Vernier callipers, micrometres, and gauges.
Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to identify and resolve machine or production issues.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and precision for ensuring part accuracy.
Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively with programmers and other team members.
Experience : Min 2 to 3 years
Qualification : Diploma/B.E in mechanical
