    The undergraduate course B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering was started in the year 1985 with a modest intake of 45 students. Over the years, the intake has increased from 45 to 120 and then 180. The post graduate course M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering specialization was started in the year 2006 with an intake of 18. The current intake for post graduate programme is 24. The Department has well qualified and experienced faculty and six of the 41 faculty members are Ph.D. degree holders with an average teaching experience of 15-20 years. The institute obtained autonomous status under VTU in the year 2015. The Department has both affiliated and autonomous batches in place with the current 6th semester batch under autonomous. The autonomous batch semester syllabus has been prepared with inputs from industry and academia in the Board of Studies meeting after a detailed discussion and deliberation. The primary objective of adopting a new syllabus is to make our students to be industry ready. We rigorously follow Outcome Based Education Teaching Learning paradigm to ensure improved quality teaching and learning to happen.

    The research center in Computer Science and Engineering was established in the year 2006. Since its inception the Research Center has made a gradual progress with the value addition in terms of research scholars, quality research publications and in grants from VTU/VGST. The department was accredited in the year 2009 and got tier-II accreditation as per new NBA guidelines in the year 2015. Dr. Veena V. Desai is currently the Head of the Department.

    About the department
    The Department was established during the inception of this institute in 1979. The Department has obtained NBA accreditation thrice. First in 2004 for a period of 3 years, second for a period of 3 years in 2008 and third accreditation for a period of 2 years in 2015. The Department is permanently affiliated to VTU, Belgaum. Since the last 2 years the department is functioning as a autonomous body. The department has all the teaching faculty having qualifications M. Tech/M. S or above. The department has a MoU with Texas Instruments, ALS and ARM. Innovative and Industry oriented projects are carried out on TI DSP kits.

    About the Department
    The department of Information Science and Engineering being the youngest department of K.L.S, G.I.T Belagavi was started in the year 2000 with an intake of 60 students. The department houses well equipped classrooms with state of the art computing infrastructure. The department has a team of faculty members who are highly qualified and rich in experience. Their dedicated efforts and single minded pursuit of research has led to quality paper publications in national, international journals and conferences.
    The motto of the department is to impart valuable technical knowledge and professional ethics to mould the students towards their future. Constant mentoring of students by the academic staff periodically has facilitated in excellent learning environment .The laboratory based hands on experience of various engineering subjects inculcate a high level of confidence in the students to face emerging industry standards.
    To encourage talented students, the department has a formal association of I.S.E students known as Information Science Engineers Association(I.S.E.A) which conducts a series of events throughout the semester to encourage students to exhibit their talents in various activities .The series of activities culminate into a flagship event known as Technosparkz.
