Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology
(Commonly referred to as Sir MVIT) is an Institute of repute in the state of Karnataka.
The Institute is named after Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a well known Engineer, Statesman and a former Diwan of Mysore.
This institute was founded and established by the Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust and offers programs in the field of Technical Education.
It was established in the year 1986. The Institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (V.T.U
and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), 
 New Delhi. Sir M.V.I.T is an ISO 9001:2000 Certified Institution. The institute has 2800 students & over 260 well-experienced faculty members. 
 The institute has been Ranked No. 1 among the Engineering Colleges in the Karnataka State by the reputed magazine 'Dataquest'.
 It is also ranked under top 25 engineering colleges of India and rated AAA amongst India’s Best Engineering Colleges.

Sir M.Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology is spread out on 133 acres of sprawling land on the NH-7, near Air Force Station, Yelahanka
in North Bangalore, close to Bengaluru International Airport (21 km from Bangalore City Junction).
 Although it’s far from the city centre, it is accessible as BMTC buses drop you within walking distance, and some pass through the college campus itself .

Hostel Information

There are four Men’s Hostels and two Ladies' Hostels. One more Ladies' Hostel block is under construction. 
These hostels accommodate around 640 boys and 300 girls. Day to day affairs of hostels are managed by Warden and resident Wardens.

Library Details

The Central Library and Information Center encourages every user to use the library to his/her advantage
 The library is fully automated. At present the library has 47,602 volumes, 13,739 titles of books, about 950 back 
volumes of scientific and technical journals, 268 video cassettes, and 1050 CD/DVD's. There are 57 hard copies of the journals.
