"Sathyabama University" Chennai – Tamilnadu, is a private university atChennai in tamil nadu, India, founded in 1988 as Sathyabama Engineering College by "Jeppiaar Educational Trust" (formed in 1987) and inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Janaki Ramachandran. It was formerly known as Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (SIST). The university is headed by "Dr. Jeppiaar", a former politician under the late M. G. Ramachandran. The university is a Christian minority institution.
The Ministry of Human Resources Development declared the college a 'Deemed University' on 16 July 2001 and as a 'University' on 13 September 2006, under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956.

Dual Degree Courses
Dual Degree Courses are designed to complete a Basic Degree in Engineering in 4 years, followed by one year for second Degree. Total Duration is 5 Years. The Dual Degree programme starts from Third Semester, with 2 Theory Subjects and 1 laboratry in each semester. This is in addition to the regular 7 Theory Subjects and 2 laboratories of the major Degree. An additional fee is charged for the Dual Degree
