A1 & A2 EXAMS
A1 Level (Start Deutsch 1 )
This accredits the sufficient linguistic competence to understand and use daily expressions frequently used in any part of the German-speaking world, aimed at satisfying immediate needs; asking and giving basic personal information about yourself and daily life and interacting on a basic level with speakers, whenever they are speaking slowly and clearly and are willing to cooperate.

The examination Start Deutsch 1 completes the first level - A1 - of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This level is reached after 120-160 teaching hours.
You are able to understand and use familiar, everyday expressions and very easy sentences that are aimed at satisfying specific needs. You can introduce yourself and others as well as ask questions about other people. You can make yourself understood in a basic sense when the person you are talking to speaks slowly and clearly and is ready to help.
The examination consists of different parts: hearing, reading, written expression and an oral group examination. The complete examination takes about 80 mins. The examination Start Deutsch 1 serves as the intermittent examination in integration courses and is an important documentation for your CV that you have reached an elementary level of German.
A2 Level (Start Deutsch 2)
This accredits that the candidate is capable of understanding daily phrases and expressions frequently used related to areas of experience which are particularly relevant to them (basic information about yourself and your family, shopping, places of interest, occupations, etc.).
The exam to obtain this Diploma is composed of the following parts:
German, Zertifikat Deutsch / Deutsch B1 AND B2
If you already have a good basic knowledge of German, Zertifikat Deutsch Deutsch B1 is the right exam for you. It tests general language competence and can be taken by anyone.

The Zertifikat Deutsch Deutsch B1 is recognised as proof of sufficient language competence for a German citizenship application.
What can you do at level B1?
At level B1 you can communicate in a simple and connected way in everyday situations, while travelling and when talking about topics that are of personal interest. You can describe experiences, hopes and ambitions and give reasons for opinions. On the whole you can use the most important grammatical structures correctly.
