The MEO Class II Part B examination is conducted by Mercantile Marine Department (MMD) at Mumbai, Chennai, Kandla, Kochi and Kolkata. The Certificate of Competency is awarded by the Government only to those candidates who have successfully met the following requirements:

-Sea Service.
-Passed the six written examinations of the four functions.
-Passed the four oral examinations for the four functions.
-Completed all relevant STCW courses.
