The first end-to-end tablet-based classroom management platform was launched by The Curriculum Company (TCC) at Bhavan Vidyalaya ( junior) on Thursday. The platform enables a teacher to make a class engaging by empowering them with apt tools and providing a strong locus of control for a classroom as big as 40 or even above. "Arrival of tablets offers incomparable ease in obtaining digital study material for students, who will not only benefit from the portability and flexibility it offers, but also from more rewarding aspects. For educators too, tablets offer convenience for teaching and assessing students," Ujjwal Singh, founder CEO, The Curriculum Company said.
This allows teachers to interact, share, collaborate, run polls, collect data and perform assessment of several kinds, all within the reach of a simple touch/click. The state-of-the-art teacher dash board, allows them to share knowledge with students in several formats even outside the purview of the prescribed books and digital content available inside classrooms. He said ThinkTab gives teachers the flexibility to use content in any format, be it video, PPT, word document or audio file from their machine to a student's tablet. In fact, even the reverse dynamics is possible, he added.
"If a child has done something interesting, then a teacher can also pull out the same thing from that student's tablet and show it to everyone present in the classroom," he further said. Taruna Vashisht, principal, Bhavan Vidyalaya (junior) said, "As our initiative to stay abreast with new and innovative teaching methodologies, we ran a trial of tablet-based learning at our school in Chandigarh. It empowers teachers and saves time which can be used for more constructive activities."
Sh added, "From students' perspective, it aids in improving concentration and arousing interest in concepts being taught. It fosters creativity and inculcates 21st century thinking skills in the child. Looking at the integrated benefits, I feel that T-learning is the future of education in India and here to stay."
