The most important problem associated with the gallbladder, which protects the enzymes necessary for digestion, is that it is very prone to stone formation, which are called gallstones. Sometimes there is accumulation of cholesterol, bilirubin and bile salts in the gallbladder. 80 percent of the stones are made of cholesterol (gall bladder stone). Gradually they become hard and take the form of stone inside the gall bladder. Cholesterol stones are yellow-green in colour.
