MAHILA (MAHAVIDYALAYA) PG COLLEGE in Laksar Road

M.V.PG. College is a leading centre for women education in the area. Way back in 1934, it was founded as an Oriental school for educating girls an Vedic culture. College founder Late Smt. Shakuntla Shastri and Sri. Moolchand Shastri were permanent social workers, freedom fighters, who virtually started their public life as delegates in Lahore Congress Session in Dec. 1929.
Influenced by Gandhian constructive programme and the principles of Arya Samaj. High school classes were first introduced in 1945 when it became clear first that the colorial rule was coming to an end. In 1949 Intermidiate classes were started and in 1965 Agra University accorded recognition for degree classes.
This college has played a signifpicant role in socio-economic life of Hardwar and its adjoining areas. The institution in now importing specialized education in Art Science, Commerce with computer application and classical music. Now a days , Home Scientists are intracting with other scientists like social scientists, psychologist, economist, Sociologist, educationist and medical scientists. It is more appealing as well as interesting that various aspects of changing perception and focuses of home science. Our college is also providing research centre for student in political science.
At graduate level as well as in PG. level, this educational institution is now a well know PG. college affiliated to HNB Garhwal Univercity, Srinagar, Garhwal.
