History of Himachal Pradesh

The region of Himachal Pradesh was called 'Deva Bhoomi ' (the land of the gods). The Aryan influence in this area of India dates to the period before the Rigveda. Sankar Varma, the king of Kashmir exercised his influence over regions of Himachal Pradesh in about 883 AD. In 1773 AD the Rajputs under Sansar Chand possessed this region, till the attack by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1804 which crushed the Rajput power here.

How to Reach by Road/Air/Bus

By Road: It is 343km from the Indian capital New Delhi via Chandigarh, 151km from Ambala, and 240km from Dehradun, 117km from Chandigarh. Apart from this, it is also well connected to Pathankot in Punjab.

By Rail: In fact, there are no railway tracks in the entire state because of the loft hills. But, Kalka (90km away) is the nearest railway station to reach to Himachal Pradesh to explore major tourist spots in Himachal Pradesh.
