Bapuji Ayurvedic Medical College is one of the best and well known ayurvedic medical college in the district of Shimoga, an entrance to picturesque malnad region of Karnataka. The college is running under BAPUJI educational trust Honnali. Our college is approved by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), Government of India and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The college was established in the year 1996. The college is associated with hospital facility where each and every student will obtain quality clinical experience along with class room teaching offered by well experienced, highly qualified and dedicated teaching faculty.
The college has well equipped 14 departments, extensive library and requisite Laboratories. All the departments have highly qualified and experienced staff to enrich the knowledge of students in undergraduate courses. Periodic Guest lectures, Seminars, CME and Workshops are being arranged to accomplish academic development of students.
BAMC is spread across 10 acres of land. The campus consists of Main administrative block, hospital (both OPD & IPD), college block, canteen and hostel. BAMC has 60 bedded hospital and a pharmacy.

B.A.M.S (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) Degree Course:
The B.A.M.S. degree course is of 5 years and 6 months duration. The course is divided in to two parts.
1. Main course of 4 years and 6 months.
2. Clinical course/internship of 1 year.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:
Ayurveda education is aimed at producing graduates of profound scholarship having deep basis of ayurveda with scientific knowledge in accordance with ayurvedic fundamentals with extensive practical training who should be able and efficient academicians, research fellows, physicians, and surgeons fully competent to serve in the medical and health services of the country.
EXAMINATION:
There will be RGUHS examination at the completion of every phase.
Supplementary examination will take place once in every 6 months.
College level internal assessment examination takes place 2 times in one phase, in a gap of 5-6 months.
CRITERION OF PASS & PROMOTION:
At least 50% of marks should be scored separately in Theory and Practical of each subject to be declared as pass in that subject, provided both Theory & Practical should be passed together.
However, a student failed in more than 2 subjects shall not be eligible to keep the terms. A student failed in one OR two subjects will be allowed to keep the terms and will be promoted to the next phase. However only after passing all the subjects of previous phase a student will be allowed to appear in next phase examination.
Admission procedure
1. Students must have passed the two year P.U.C. examination of Karnataka or any other 10+2 examination recognized as equivalent thereto with English as one of the languages and Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects with not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate of the relevant science subjects of the second year P.U.C examination of Karnataka or any other 10+2 examination recognized as equivalent are only eligible for admission to BAMS Course
OR
2. The candidates who have passed the B.Sc. Part-I degree examination of any University or equivalent examination conducted by the statutory Universities or Boards with Science subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, and Biology OR Botany & Zoology and secured not less than 50% of the marks in the aggregate are eligible for admission to I BAMS Course, provided the candidate has passed the PUC examination or 10+2 with PCB and English as subjects.
OR
3. The candidates who have passed the B.Sc. Final Part degree examination of any University or equivalent examination conducted by the statutory Universities or Boards with Science subjects with not less than 50% of the marks in the aggregate are eligible for admission to I BAMS Course, provided they have passed in the deficient science subject (s) namely-Physics, Chemistry, or Biology (Botany & Zoology) and English as one of the languages at the PUC or 10+2 or B. Sc. part I level.
OR
4. The candidate belongs to SC, ST, Category I, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B are eligible for admission to I BAMS Course, if they have secured 40% marks in the aggregate in the optional subjects of science namely Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and English as one of the languages at the PUC level and passed it. This claim is only for the candidates who belong to the state of Karnataka as per the law of the land.
5. The candidates should attain the age of 17 years (complete) as of on 31st December of the year of admission of BAMS Course.
6. . Students who have passed an examination other than Pre - University, Karnataka (Bangalore), should submit Eligibility Certificate before admission issued by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. College will also help in getting eligibility certificate from the RGUHS if needed.
