VoIP architectures and implementations have matured from simple toll bypass and trunking solutions, to being the basis of voice and multimedia services in Next Generation Networks (NGN). This course gives a comprehensive and detailed treatment of the different architectures of VoIP, including SIP, IMS and H.248, as well as the services and networks implemented using these. Particular emphasis is given on the second day to advanced topics including IMS in TISPAN and 3GPP networks, VoIP to PSTN Interworking and VoIP security, as well as to key implementation issues including NAT traversal, the need for media proxies, QoS measurement, and the role of Session Border Controllers.
