For surgeries, there are two types of lenses hydrophobic and hydrophilic. Both serve comparable functions. Each has advantages of its own. Water and other aqueous fluids are repelled by hydrophobic lenses, which prevent them from building up inside or around them. Hydrophilic lenses, on the other hand, continue to be saturated with liquid.
