Step-1 (NOTARY ATTESTATION)

Applicant (If present in India) or Any parent (present in India), has to get prepared Affidavit for Bachelorhood Single status Certificate and give a notarized undertaking on Rs.50/Rs.100 value of stamp paper, stating the concerned person is Unmarried/ Single / Bachelorhood and is eligible to get married and has no any living spouse at present.

Step-2 (HOME DEPARTMENT ATTESTATION or SDM ATTESTATION)

The Notarized Affidavit for Bachelorhood Certificate / Single Status Certificate then needs to get attested from the concerned state home department, and if state home department attestation is not possible then alternatively applicant can get it attested from the SDM Officer of any capacity/ jurisdiction.

Step-3 (APOSTILLE/LEGALIZATION FROM THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (MEA)

The Notarized affidavit with Home Department/ SDM Attestation then needs to get apostilled from the Ministry of External Affairs. This is the last step of attestation from India.

Step 4 (EMBASSY ATTESTATION)

As Indian Marriage Act, don t authorizes any official to issue a Bachelorhood/ Single Status / Unmarried certificate, so the applicant has to present an apostilled affidavit at the concerned Indian Embassy, which then issues Bachelorhood / Single Status Certificate to the applicant, which can be used in the concerned country to get married to respected country s citizen.
