Bilateral Knee Replacement Surgeon

Bilateral knee replacement surgery is also known as two-stage or sequential bilateral knee replacement surgery. This type of surgery is typically performed on patients who have osteoarthritis in both knees. The first stage of surgery is performed on one knee, followed by the second stage on the other knee six to twelve months later.

During bilateral knee replacement surgery, the surgeon will make incisions on both knees and replace the damaged cartilage with artificial implants. The surgeon will then attach the new joint to the bones with cement or metal screws. Once the surgery is complete, patients will need to use crutches or a walker for several weeks as they recover.
