The M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) is an engineering college located in Bangalore, India. MSRIT is an autonomous institution affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University. It was granted academic autonomy in 2007. MSRIT was founded in 1962 by Mr. M.S. Ramaiah. It was the first institute started by the Gokula Education Foundation. Since then, it has increased in size and stature, and now offers a wide variety of courses like B. E. in 12 areas, B.Arch., M. Tech. in 8 areas, M.Sc (Engg) by research, MCA, MBA & Ph.D. MSRIT was originally affiliated to Mysore University and later with the Bangalore University (until 2002). It is now affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgaum. It is an institutional member of the ISTE and is recognised by the AICTE. It has been certified ISO 9001:2000 and has been accredited by NBA. MSRIT is one the institutes to be funded under TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Program) by World Bank.
MSRIT is also a research centre in 12 areas. This includes both engineering and management disciplines. The institute has academic alliance with Intel,IBM,Schneider Electric,JSW Steel, Cognizant technology solutions,EMC,Nokia and few other multinational companies. It also partnered ISRO in 2010 to build StudSat which was a nano satellite launched.MSRIT was chosen in 2012 to join the consortium of colleges that would assist ISRO in the StudSat-2,a satellite that provides inter satellite link.The daily the Deccan Herald reported that learning at MSRIT is an enriching experience in a recent article.The institute is also credited for the development of India's first unmanned air vehicle (UAV) with an autopilot system.
