The Birla Institute of Technology & Science, BITS Pilani is an all-India Institute for higher education. What started in early 1900s as a small school, blossomed into a set of colleges for higher education, ranging from the Humanities to Engineering until 1964 when all these colleges amalgamated to culminate into a unique Indian University of International standing? This university was christened as the Birla college of Technology and Science, Pilani, known to many as BITS, Pilani. The Bachelor of Technology (echnology (Latin Baccalaureus Technologize, commonly abbreviated as B.Tech. with Honours as B.Tech. (Hons.); or BTech) is an undergraduate academic degree conferred after completion of a three-year, a four-year or even a five-year (such as in Nigeria) program of studies at an accredited university or accredited university-level institution. B.Tech. is considered as skill-oriented course. The degree is conferred in the Commonwealth of Nations, the United States and elsewhere. Bachelor in Technology is also a graduate level program done directly after a student's 10+2. After a student's 12th exam, the candidate has to appear for any state or national level engineering entrance through which he or she will get admittance into a college that provides technology course. There are many such universities. The course of this degree focuses on application and skill based study and is useful if one is interested in modifying structures to enhance their quality. B. Tech is skill oriented which gives more emphasis on Practicals.
