BLDE University is amongst the reputed universities in Karnataka providing education in various medical courses. It has been established under BLDE Association, a renowned educational society, running more than 75 institutions in the state.
BLDE University was established as a deemed university under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. The Constituent College of the University, Shri B M Patil Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Bijapur, was established in the year 1986 by BLDE Association (Bijapur Liberal Development Education Association).
The Medical College and Hospital are situated adjacent to each other on a campus sprawling over 45 acres of land, in the heart of the city. The campus has beautiful landscaped gardens and black stone buildings of old world charm, which are well ventilated and illuminated.
