Life Saving Society of India is a Public Charitable Trust, affiliated to Sports Sector Skill Council of India [SPEFL SC], supported by National Skill Development Corporation [NSDC], under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India. Nationally the Society since 2005 is into training & certification of Life Savers, Life Guards, Aquatic and Non- Aquatic Disaster Management, various water-craft & power-craft training, rescue diving, search & rescue from various scenarios, adventure tourism handling, water sports training and also training in various vocational trades which help & support human life.
LSSI under its various departments of work, do various projects and programmes in Wild Life Conservation, Eco-System Monitoring, Environmental Studies and work for its protection and also undertakes programmes on Women Empowerment and Child Welfare.
OUR TRAININGS
Imparted training and certification to more than 8,000 personnel from all the 10 National Disaster Response Force [NDRF] battalions in Flood Relief & Rescue Management Course, Search & Rescue, Speedboat & OBM Handling under Aquatic Disaster Management.
Trained personnel from Punjab Police, Orissa State Police, West Bengal State Police, Bihar State Response Force, Coast Guard, Engineering Core of Armed Forces, etc. in Aquatic Disasters and various life saving skills.
Imparted training to almost 11,000 individuals and corporate trainees since its inception 11 years ago in basic skills of Fisrt Aid & CPR, Lifesaving, Pool & Beach Lifeguard, Rescue Boat & OBM Driver, Jetski Driver, etc.
Providing free specialized Lifeguard Service to various Government and Non-Government organized programmes like Ganga Sagar Mela, Mahalaya, Durga/Kali Puja immersion / Dol Yatra Ceremonies, etc.
Providing specialized services of search & recovery in an accident scenario or even during underwater forensic investigations all over the country
Actively helping out organizations and individuals rendering selfless services through setting up of clinics and drug rehabilitation centres.
We are actively working for the cause of differentially abled people through participating as a Safety & Training organization for imparting specialized life skills to them while engaging in Beyond Belief Expedition Challenge programmes by Kolkata Sukriti Foundation.
We are actively participating in Random Blood Glucose of West Bengal using lance sets, strips and glucometer in association with National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke [NPCDCS] Dept. of Health & FW, Govt. of West Bengal and Rotary Clubs.
We are documenting through videos, photographs and ground data collection of flora and fauna, habitat changes taking place due to human and other interferences in the eastern wetlands of Kolkata which makes it live.
We have instituted the first ever NATIONAL LIFESAVING AWARDS from 2012 to award and encourage individuals or group of individuals who have shown exemplary courage to save a person s life. The awards are given in 10 categories covering people with or without training in the course of their work and also civilian categories.
