Let us look at the English literature and Language SYLLABUS for the ISC & ICSE INTRODUCED FROM THE YEAR 2017. This means the syllabus is going to be new and there is going to be no previous years question papers to take idea from. Of course, the book market will be innundated with lots of suggestive books. But, there will only be a few expert tutors to prepare the students on them.

Books do not make the subject easier or lucid. Teachers do. Students learn through them, they grasp the subjects from their expressions, ideas, explanations, notes, personalities. Regarding the BENGALI LITERATURE AND LANGUAGE as a subject in XI, XII, we would like to point out that for pursuing Graduation from the Calcutta University, Jadavpur University, Rabindra Bharati University etc. it has been made compulsory to have BENGALI as a subject in 10+2 curriculum. If anyone does not opt for Bengali as a subject IN XI XII, he/she will run the risk of not getting admission in the universities/ colleges in West Bengal in future.

BENGALI as a subject has been made compulsory in all the English Medium schools affiliated to ICSE ISC CBSE. From this year, students from class V will have to take up BENGALI LITERATURE & LANGUAGE as third ro second subject. The era of exercising choice is gone. The Government has already issued circulars to this effect.
