Is it possible that Kerala has too many engineering colleges? A recent report based on the academic audit information gathered by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University has found that around one fifth of the engineering colleges should be shut down, as more than 17,000 seats remained vacant in 2016. There could be two reasons for this. Firstly, the supply of colleges is more than the students interested in studying engineering in the state.
