ABOUT MBBS
Bachelor of medicine and bachelor of Surgery:
Bachelor of medicine and bachelor of Surgery is a five and half-year course. The course involves four and a half -year of classroom study followed by a year of rotating internship. The classroom study is broken into three phases of 18 months each. The period of 18 months is called Professional and each profession is divided into three semesters. There is a semester exam at the end of each semester and a Professional exam at the end of each Professional.
The first MBBS
This is a pre-clinical course lasting for a year and the course subjects are anatomy. Physiology and biochemistry. Without passing the first MBBS, a candidate cannot get ahead with the course. Introduction to community medicine is also covered during this period.
Second MBBS
The second MBBS covers subjects such as pathology, pharmacology, microbiology and forensic medicine and lasts for one and a half years. After clearing the four subjects, the candidate can move on to III MBBS. The students attend clinical wards and out-patient departments in the morning and classes are held in the afternoon. This also involves short postings in some departments and long posting in community medicine.
Final MBBS
The first part of Final MBBS lasts for a year and core subjects are social and preventive medicine, ENT and Ophthalmology. The second part of final MBBS consists of medicine, surgery, pediatrics and gynecology. After passing the final examinations, a student gets provisional registration by MCI. However, medical degree is given only on completion of the resident internship.

Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor of medicine and Bachelor of Surgery:
The eligibility criteria for admission to MBBS course is strictly based on rules and regulations set by the Medical Council of India. Candidate should have passed the senior secondary or equivalent examination with physics chemistry.
