VHDL is the VHSIC Hardware Description Language. VHSIC is an abbreviation for Very High Speed Integrated Circuit. It can describe the behaviour and structure of electronic systems, but is particularly suited as a language to describe the structure and behaviour of digital electronic hardware designs, such as ASICs and FPGAs as well as conventional digital circuits.

The developments in electronics and related branches in the last few decades have been almost totally in the area of VLS Design & Embedded. VLSI Design (VHDL) is also growing at an exponential rate as there are over 130 chip design firms present in India-the vast pool of talent and growing domestic market has helped the country emerge as an important center for chip design.

The objective of this programme is to impart hands on training to the students on FPGA based digital design using VHDL. The training program aims at providing a detailed view of programmable design flow. The training emphasizes on hands on experience of digital design and its implementations on Xilinx boards.
