Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education –Noorul Islam University - comprising of Noorul Islam College of Engineering as its constituent teaching unit , has been declared as a Deemed-to-be-University by Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of Higher Education), Government of India under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 , on the advice of UGC ,vide Notification No.F.9-51/2004-U.3 dated 8th December 2008.The University is run by the Noorul Islam Center for Higher Education (NICHE) Society with Janab Dr. A.P. Majeed Khan as president of the Society ,NISCE and the Chancellor of the University, NIU.

Noorul Islam University Receives National Award -2013
Noorul Islam University, Kumaracoil, has been conferred the coveted National Award for Educational Excellence, 2013. In a glittering ceremony in New Delhi, the Hon’ble Minister for Human Resource Development, Govt of India, Dr. M. Mangapati Pallam Raju presented the prestigious Award to the Vice Chancellor of Noorul Islam University, Dr. R. Perumalsamy on 9th April, 2013. The selection of Noorul Islam University for this Award, instituted by the planning commission of India, and ASSOCHAM, India, was made by a distinguished panel of jury consisting of Former Cabinet Secretary Mr. Surendra Singh, Former UGC Chairman Prof. Sukhdeo Thorat, and four eminent personalities. Innovation, scalability, ability to overcome challenges, achievements and impact potential were the criteria for the selection of the School of Management of NIU for the Best B- School Award at the National level .

Placement:

The Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education comprising of Noorul Islam College of Engineering has a full-fledged Placement & Training Department headed by an Industry-experienced person as Placement & Training Officer. The function of this Department is mainly to promote Institution-Industry Interaction for the benefit of the Students, to carry out their In-plant Training, and to undertake Project Work as a part of their Educational requirements for each and every candidate as per the norms framed. This Department provides latest information to the Students to update their knowledge and to face the Competitive Examinations and Interviews. It is in constant touch with the major industries throughout India in order to provide job opportunities to the students who are in their pre-final and final year. It has arranged a number of Campus Interviews and off the Campus Interviews for the Pre-final and final year students. Each and every academic year, our students are placed in well-reputed multinational companies, public sector companies and also placed in teaching profession continuously. We wish to state that during the year 2007-2008, 258 Students were placed in well reputed companies like Infosys, Wipro, TCS, CTS, Satyam Computers, HCL, L & T, Coimbatore, EDS Bangalore and during the year 2008-2009 - 130 candidates were placed in Companies like TCS, Nest Group, Coal & Oil, ETA-ASCON, Roland, L & T Coimbatore and five Students of Mechanical Branch got placed in M/s. Alumco-Dubai (Overseas Employment through campus). During the current year 2009-2010 the placement activities have just started and our Students are participating in the Tamil Nadu State Level Placement Programme organized by Anna University, Chennai.
As a part of academic curriculum, our students from Mechanical and Electrical & Electronics Engineering attending the short-term sandwich course on Marine Engines & Associated Systems and Marine Electrical Technologies conducted by the Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training, Cochin. The students had the opportunity of sailing in the high seas during the training period and gained hands on experience.
This Department provides training to the students on career developments, career guidance and counseling. A number of experienced people from different industries are invited by the college to share their experience with the students. It also conducts seminars and workshops especially to develop the communication skills of students. Aptitude Tests, Group Discussions and Mock Interviews are conducted for the benefit of the students to face boldly any kind of interviews.

This Department purchases latest books on regular basis for the competitive examinations such as IES, GATE, GRE, CAT, TOFEL and MAT for the benefit of the students and they make use of these books to prepare for the examinations. Apart from these books, we also have books on General Knowledge and Engineering stream wise books are available to the students, Books like Competition success Review – Monthly Magazines, Employment News, Weekly Employment Opportunities published in The Hindu are displayed on the desk on regular basis for the students. Daily Newspapers such as The Hindu, The New Indian Express and Hindu Business Time and including Tamil/Malayalam dailies are kept in our Department to enable the students to develop the habit of reading the newspapers on regular basis.
