Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College Founded in 1989, the Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College was originally affiliated to the University of Mumbai and the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik (MUHS), but now is a part of the University. ?It was recently awarded an ISO 9001:2000 certification from the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ). Currently, the college provides facilities for M.B.B.S. and Post-Graduate studies. The spacious building accommodates twenty different departments, which include Departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Medicine, Paediatrics, Chest and TB, Skin and VD, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Ophthalmology and Radiodiagnosis. About college: Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre established in 1996, received recognition of the Medical Council of India (MCI), for the award of MBBS degree from its very first batch. The Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth comprising of Padmashree Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, has been accorded the status of Deemed University.
In 2003, the college was permitted to teach post-graduate courses in a couple of subjects. In June 2005, the college was allowed an intake of 81 students in post graduate degree and diploma courses and presently there are 123 PG-students in the following 19 subjects : General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Opthalmology, Ent (Oto Rhino Laryngology), General Medicine, Paediatrics, Anaesthesiology, Psychiatry, Radio-diagnosis, Tb & Chest Diseases, Skin & Venereal Diseases, Pathology, Community Medicine, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. The college has also been permitted to conduct super speciality courses in Neurosurgery, Urology and Nephrology.

These recognitions and expansions granted by the MCI, UGC, MHRD and by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India are the result of visionary guidance and whole hearted support of Dr. P. D. Patil, the efforts put in by the faculty and the excellent facilities like spacious buildings, measuring 4,50,000 sq. ft., large lecture halls, well-equipped laboratories, well-stocked library, a hospital with super speciality facilities, such as MRI, whole body CT Scan, ICUs with ventilators, and the equipment required for Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, etc.

Besides regular lectures and practicals, the college gives importance to research. Several research proposals of post-graduate students and of the faculty members are approved and funded by bodies, such as, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), DST and the Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth,Pune.
