Charcoal is a very versatile medium which can be used to create beautiful art in a range of tonal values. The three hours workshop will introduce the participants to the basic techniques involved in creating a simple charcoal drawing and sketching on toned paper using charcoal pencil, white pastel pencil and charcoal powder.
The Charcoal workshop will cover the following
Two step by step demonstrations of a charcoal and white pastel pencil drawing by the artist ( Small works sized 5 X 7 ). Roots of a tree and A Door
Design and composition
Significance of tonal values
Use of charcoal and tools and ways of using a pastel pencil.
Tips and techniques involved in creating a better drawing
Discussing the different papers required for charcoal drawing on toned paper
Use of fixatives
Framing of a charcoal drawing
Care and preservation
Creating an original art using photograph as a reference
Guidance regarding creation of more works in future
The participants will create an A 4 size still life painting on Canson Mi Teintes dark grey, acid free paper guided step by step by the artist, which they can take away home after the workshop is done.
