Uttarkashi is a youngest town of Uttarakhand formed in 1960. The town is called Devbhoomi and one of the popular destinations and name stands for Kashi of the north. The town is famous for its religious importance and lies on the bank of Bhagirathi River. The town has rich flora and fauna and one can find medicinal herbs and shrubs, Surrounding by the pine and Deodar trees. The town is known for its temples like Vishwanath temple, Bhairav Tempel, Kuteti Devi Tempel, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Karna Devta Tempel etc. The Shakti temple is one of the prime attraction located opposite site of Vishwanath Temple popular for its 26 ft high Trishul.
