Komi State Medical University

Syktyvkar State University (SyktSU) is the oldest and largest higher education institution in the Komi Republic. Established in 1972, it introduced its medical program in 2014. Recently, the university commemorated its 50 years of educational excellence.

Officially known as Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University or the State University of Syktyvkar (formerly), SyktSU is named after Pitirim Sorokin, a Russian-American sociologist and political activist. Due to its location in the Komi Republic, it is also commonly referred to as Komi State University.
