@RueDuLiban serves hot and cold mezzes. Mezzes are a selection of small dishes in parts of Middle East, Greece, Balkans, North America and Turkey. They function as snacks or appetisers while drinking or talking. They are often served as a part of multi-course meals. It is a style of dining in the Mediterranean and the Middle East, resembling a collection of Spanish tapas and other small plates to stimulate your appetite. Mezzes often make up an entire meal, combining both hot and cold, vegetarian and meat dishes.
Mezzes are served two ways, hot and cold.
Cold Mezzes:
Moutabal Baba Ghanouj: A Levantine appetiser made of char-grilled eggplant, pureed with tahini topped with olive oil, pomegranate, spring onion, lemon juice and sumac. It taste close to hummus but a bit nuttier and the char-grilled eggplant gives it a nice smokey flavour and aroma to the dish.
Mouhamara: It is a hot pepper dip originated in Syria. It has a sweet and spicy blend of roasted red peppers, harissa, pomegranate molasses, walnuts and olive oil. It is usually eaten as a dip with bread, toast, kebabs, grilled meats and fish.
Shanklish: It is made with strained goat cheese coated with aged Za tar mixed with cherry tomatoes, onions, parsley, dukkah and olive oil. This dish originated in Egypt. It is usually accompanied with Araq , a Levantine unsweetened distilled spirit.
Hot Mezzes:
Moujadara: A dish originated in Iraq, is made of cooked lentils and rice topped with chilli oil and caramelised onions. There are many variations of this dish in Egypt and the Middle East.
Soujok: It is a dry spicy sausage eaten in Balkans, Central Asia and Middle East. It is a homemade spicy lamb sausage topped with cherry tomatoes, pepper marmalade sprinkled with pistachio.
Sambousek: is a Middle Eastern, savory, filled pastry, usually deep fried. @RueDuLiban serves their Sambousek as a Lebanese pastry filled with baharat spiced minced lamb, pomegranate molasses and pine nuts with tahini.
