Faculty of Life Sciences, JSS University in Banni mantapa extension

The Faculty of Life Sciences was established in the year 2012 with the blessings of His Holiness Shri ShivarathriDeshikendraMahaswamiji, Chancellor, JSS University, Mysore.

Life Science is the study of biological systems with biology being the central theme around this several interdisciplinary research areas have evolved. The field of life sciences spans health care, agricultural, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical and food science and plans a major role in improving the quality of life. Some of the exciting research activities in this area include understanding biochemical pathways of disease, developing nanotechnology-based chemotherapeutic carriers with minimal side effects, understanding the role of genetics in cancer treatment, novel methods to minimize environmental pollution, development of stable food products and cosmetics with therapeutic benefits.

A pioneering institute sets new goals and pursues them relentlessly, challenges its members to achieve excellence and help them to meet those challenges. This is what JSS University strove to do during the past years and continues to do so. Sound grasp of fundamentals, good analytical skills, awareness of contemperory problems, reasoning abilities and exposure to the rapidly changing technologies are an integral part of the training at this faculty. Our teaching programmes are designed to expose the students to recent exciting developments in the area so that the students are well equipped for employment in biotechnological, agriculture, pharmaceutical and other industries as well as R & D organizations and teaching institutions.
