The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a remarkable step toward economic stability and social dignity of the most vulnerable women in raising the monthly pension of thousands of destitute women under the Nirashrit Mahila Pension Yojana. The hike from the present Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 pension for more than 30 lakh women is quite a huge commitment made by the government to support one of the most vulnerable sections of society. It addresses immediate needs and strengthens long-term empowerment.
