RECOGNITION:The college was recognised by M.C.I in1972 and comes under (Consortium of Medical ,Engineering& Dental Colleges of Karnataka) known as C.O.M.E.D K along with eleven other medical colleges.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The college is one of the best medical colleges in India providing medical education to the deserving students.The college is the second medical college in India to get the MCI recognition as well from British Medical Council.The college is multi –storied having 1lac 20 k sq.feet area having a serene and composite envorinment supplemented with beautiful fountain and gardens.The college is having a huge library and is equipped with lecture halls having ultra modern teaching facilities.
The college is credited of having two medical hospitals Basaveshwara Medical College and Sangameshwar Teaching Hospital. Basaveshwara hospital is 820 bedded multi speciality hospital at par with worlds best medical hospitals. Sangameshwara hospital is quite renowned hospital known for its pediatric care.Both the hospitals is having its own Blood Bank and is having every department related to the medical field.
