You might be well aware of the effects of diabetes caused in your body but let me tell you about the condition called Prediabetes. Dr A S Prakash, one of the best Endocrinologists in Patna briefly explains you about the Prediabetes condition in your body.
According to the Endocrinologist, Dr A S Prakash Prediabetes is diagnosed when blood glucose is higher than normal but not high enough for a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
Are you suffering from Prediabetes condition?
As per the Diabetes Prevention Program study, if you are suffering from prediabetes, the development of type 2 diabetes could be prevented or delayed through lifestyle changes. Most of our patients who have been diagnosed with prediabetes based on a blood test are at high risk for prediabetes.
Dr Prakash also states that a body mass index over 24 (or 22 for people of Asian descent), with a family history of diabetes, getting little physical activity, older age and having had gestational diabetes all increase the chances that you are at a risk of inheriting and should immediately visit our clinic for the diabetic tests.
How do we diagnose Prediabetes and Diabetes?
There are three types of blood tests are being conducted in our clinic used to diagnose diabetes and prediabetes. The A1C is a measure of average blood glucose taken over the past two to three months. The fasting plasma glucose (FPG) test is performed during an empty stomach to check your blood glucose level. The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) measures your blood glucose before and two hours after drinking a syrupy glucose solution.
