Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), located in East Sikkim, was established in 1997. It is the first technological campus in Sikkim. Also, it is the only institute in East India to have an Atal Incubation Center funded by NITI Aayog, Government of India.
SMIT, East Sikkim offers admissions in 11 leading degree programs in Science, Engineering, and Management at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Admissions in undergraduate programs at SMIT are offered in B.Tech, BBA, BCA, and B.Sc.
B.Tech admissions require students to have passed 10+2 with 50% in PCM or 60% in Diploma and qualify JEE / MET/ SMIT online entrance.
B.Sc./BBA/BCA aspirants must have 50% in 10+2 to be eligible for admissions.
Postgraduate admissions at SMIT are offered in M.Tech, MBA, MCA, and M.Sc. The eligibility criteria and selection process for the same varies.
Aspirants wanting to pursue M.Tech must have a BE or B.Tech in relevant branches with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks along with valid scores in the GATE/SMIT Entrance Exam.
MBA aspirants must have 50% (45% for reserved categories) in Bachelors's in any discipline with either MAT & CAT or University entrance exam.

Ans. The placement reports of the EEE department at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology have been very good in the past 5 years. Students have claimed the placements provided by the college are at par with some of the Top colleges in India for the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. For the 2019 passed-out batch, the placement percent was almost 100%. For the 2018 passed-out batch, the placement percentage was 95%. For the year 2017, it was 89%. Top recruiting companies were Genesys, Bosch, Think and Learn, Wipro, LT Elevators, Capgemini, Solarize, TCS, Dell, AGS Technologies, Pyramid, etc. Many core companies for EEE visit the campus every year for the recruitment of students. Coming to the batch of 2020, 98% of the students were placed in reputed companies. The highest package which was offered was INR 11 Lakhs per annum and the median package was INR 5 Lakhs per annum. Sikkim Manipal University offers distance education through SMU (DE) in both the courses like MCA/MSc while BVP offers only the MCA program. The prominent details are described below. Academics Structure: Both the courses are post-graduate courses but their duration varies according to the institute. Sikkim Manipal University offers an MCA program with a duration of 3 years while MSc (IT) program completes in 2 years. BVP offers the MCA program for 2 years. Curriculum: Distance courses generally are chosen on the strength of their curriculum as they normally provide more insights into the concepts of the subject. By NIRF, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology is ranked 101-150 band and by India Today, 2nd among Private Engineering College (East Zone) whereas out of 300, NIRF has ranked Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology at 250. Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT): Admission: The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in CSE. The selection criteria for B.Tech is based on a valid score in JEE/MET/SMIT offline test while for M.Tech it is based on a valid score in GATE/ Screening Test/ Manipal University Entrance Test. The eligibilieligibility required for B.Tech is 10+2 with at least 50% marks and for the reserved category 45%. M.Tech requires a minimum of 55% marks in graduation and 50% for the reserved category. Placements: The institute has retained the consistency of 90% placements. This is achieved due to the presence of a training and placement department that provides training to the students as well as arrange final semester projects in distinct industries.
